July and August 2017 Weather Camps!
Weather camp #3 starts next week and I’m looking forward to the chance to share about weather with students! One of my favorite experiments in this hot weather is looking at the temperature of various objects outside with a hand held infrared temperature gauge. It’s surprising to find out just how hot things can be in July!
My tornado machine will be ready to go and we’ll talk about the real facts behind our storms here in South Dakota. We’ll also look at how hail forms, study our clouds, and even learn how the types of clouds can give us clues about the weather forecast!

Looking for a fun science camp this summer? We will have an opportunity for your student to learn about a variety of weather topics, including flooding, thunderstorms, tornadoes and more! Plus, we’ll explore these topics in depth with hands-on experiments and demonstrations. Your student will be able to ask questions and dive deeper into a science we experience every day. Here are a few of the topics we’ll cover.
-Learn to draw your own weather map
-Science of rain drops
-What causes thunder?
-Explore ways to measure air pressure
-Make our own tornado
-Closer look at how doppler radar works
WHEN:
Camp 1, Ages 7-10, June 5th-June 8th from 2-4pm (completed)
Camp 2, Ages 10+, June 26th-June 29th from 2-4pm (completed)
Camp 3, Ages 7-10, July 10th-13th from 2-4pm (due to scheduling conflicts, a few students will not be able to attend, so we do have a couple of openings left for this class, please email us to check availability).
Camp 4, Ages 10+, July 17th-20th from 2-4pm
Camp 5, Ages 7-10, July 24th – 27th, from 2-4 pm
COST FOR CAMPS 1 – 5: $40 per student, $35 for additional students from same family. Parents (or grandparents) are not required to stay, but are certainly welcome to stay for class, whatever works best for your child and family!
LOCATION FOR CAMPS 1 – 5: Faith Fellowship Baptist Church Sioux Falls, 57th & Minnesota
NEW LOCATION/DATE: Beresford 3 Day Camp, August 7th – 9th.
WHERE: Set Free Church in Downtown Beresford.
COST: $30 per student, $25 per additional student in same family.
WHEN: August 7th, 8th, and 9th.
Session #1: 2pm-3:30pm Ages 7-10
Session#2: 4pm-5:30pm Ages 10+
