New Four Week Science/Weather Classes Begin September 7th!

A new learning opportunity for students starts September 7th…timely and interesting subjects on meteorology and earth sciences! Here’s a look at the next 4-week series.

Week 1 – Hurricanes…Harvey is in the news now and September could be active as well. I get asked about this subject often, so this will be a good opportunity to learn more about these storms. You’ll learn about the hurricane hunters and what they do. I’ll also show how modern day technology is helping save lives.

Week 2 – Volcanoes…yes, they can have a big impact on weather patterns. This will be an interesting talk about what they’ve done in the past and how our future weather could be affected by eruptions a half a world away!

Week 3 – Fall weather 101…interesting facts about autumn weather in Sioux Falls. I’ll also cover the reasons behind the season change and what weather patterns to expect.

Week 4 – Weather and super computers…a fascinating look at how weather data is collected and why some of the biggest computers on earth are needed to make a weather forecast!

I usually allow some time to talk about the current weather patterns and forecast too!
